Pure Radio Joins DAB Ahead of Launch

A few days ago, I reported that Pure Radio, the new digital station for Scotland, had joined the Central Scotland DAB multiplex. At the time, it was broadcasting in 64 kbps mono, Although I said the multiplex was full, there was in fact 48 kbps of spare space available.

As it has transpired, Pure Radio has now upgraded its DAB service, and is now broadcasting in 112 kbps joint stereo. This means that Pure Radio now occupies the previously mentioned empty space, and the multiplex is now full. Of the 10 services now broadcasting on the Central Scotland DAB multiplex, 8 are music led services in stereo.
