Analogue Radio Updates

First up, a number of new community radio stations have recently launched. Back in March, Blackburn’s 102.2 had launched by the 14th. Riviera Radio, based in Torbay has launched on 107.9 FM. Leicester station Radio 2 Funky has also launched, this time on 95.0 FM. Bristol based SWU FM are testing ahead of launch on 103.7 FM.

Some community and commercial stations have seen coverage improvements. Northern Ireland regional station Downtown Radio has a new transmitter for Newtonabbey, which broadcasts on 103.4 FM. Community station Amber Sound now also broadcasts to Belber on 98.4 FM. Similarly named, Walsall station Ambur Radio has moved to a new frequency of 99.4 FM (presumably to allow for a power output increase).

Lastly, Betar Bangla’s MW (AM) transmitter for East London had now closed. BBC Radio Newcastle have also now ceased MW broadcasts.
