Station Review: Union Jack

First Reviewed on 06/06/2018
Union Jack is a unique concept that works brilliantly, and is dedicated to playing the best of British The music is influence by the listener, who via the app or website can move songs up or down the playlist. The song with the most votes plays next.

The music is a very varied mix of rock and pop music. A number of classic tracks are played, as well as breaking tracks from new and unsigned artists. The Underdogs Show provides a platform for new artists to get noticed.

Despite having no regular presenters, Geoff Lloyd presents a show on Saturday’s, and an Andy Murray impressionist presents Andy Murray’s 15-Love Songs on Sundays. I’ve yet to have the chance to listen to Geof Lloyd’s show, but I feel Andy Murray’s 15-Love Songs is far too over the top for my liking.

The station uses DAB+, which means that whilst the station is in stereo, not all radios will recieve it. Sound quality is better since the bit rate was increased slightly, but is still poor.

Overall, Union Jack is much better than many other commercial music stations, and whilst not perfect, the station is enjoyable to listen to. 8 out of 10.
